IL CONSIGLIO TRASPORTI SI ACCORDA SULL RISPOSTA ALLA CRISI DELLA NUBE VULCANICA-04 MAGGIO2010

The Transport Council met on 4 May and agreed on the response measures to the ash cloud crisis. See enclosed press release, which outlines the 6 action levels, notably:
- Enforcement of passenger rights
- Justification for state aids
- Revision of risk management planning for any future disruption by volcanic activity
- Speeding up the Single European Sky package
- Creation of a pan-European crisis planning for transport in case of major disruptions
- Creation of an Aviation Platform at EU level
Concerning the enforcement of passenger rights, the Council agrees that the Regulation 261/2004 should remain fully applicable but calls on the Commission to take into account the experience and the different reactions of all stakeholders during the ash cloud crisis in the context of the current review of Regulation 261/2004.
